We are thrilled to announce Rocky Bollan as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Plainview Frontier Day Parade! Rocky’s journey is nothing short of inspiring; embodying resilience, service, and a genuine love for his community.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, Rocky has faced physical challenges his entire life, yet those who know him will tell you that his spirit remains unshaken. With a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone, Rocky has always put the well-being of others ahead of his own. His life is a testament to the power of service, dedication, and perseverance.
Rocky’s connection to Plainview began, in his childhood, when he attended Plainview-Rover Elementary before his family relocated to Colorado. After graduating from Dolores High School in Southwestern Colorado, Rocky committed himself to community service by joining the Dolores Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for an impressive 15 years.
In 1997, Rocky returned to his roots in Plainview and immediately resumed his dedication to public service by joining the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department. Over his 20 years with the department, he was twice honored as Fireman of the Year, a reflection of his unwavering commitment. Rocky retired from the fire department in 2018 leaving behind a legacy of hard work and devotion.
His service did not stop there. Rocky also volunteered at Plainview-Rover Elementary, helping with sixth-grade activities and offering guidance to students. Teachers and students always appreciated his presence.
Additionally, Rocky has been a dedicated member of the Plainview Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for several years, further deepening his role within the community.
For Rocky, being named the Grand Marshal of this year’s Frontier Day Parade is a true honor. He looks forward to leading the celebration and sends his heartfelt thanks to his friends, family, and the entire Plainview community.
