Celebrating Timeless Traditions at Frontier Day in Plainview, AR

By Michelle Vales

Get ready for a fantastic day of fun and festivities at Plainview’s 2024 Frontier Day on Saturday, September 21st! From 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Old Frontier Town will be bustling with activity, offering a vibrant mix of local vendors, family-friendly entertainment, and a lively parade, all set against the theme of “Celebrating Timeless Traditions.”

Leading up to Frontier Day, join in on the excitement with our Scavenger Hunt for Miniature Horses! These tiny horses are hidden throughout Yell County in the areas of Plainview, Ola, Danville, and Dardanelle all this week, and if you find one, bring it to the Welcome Booth at Frontier Day for your Burger King coupon. Plus, one lucky participant will win a $25 gift card! The fun continues the day of the event, so keep your eyes peeled for those mini horses! Remember, it is one horse per person.

This year’s Plainview Frontier Day kicks off at 8:00 AM, featuring a variety of local vendors with unique crafts, jewelry, and décor. Food lovers are in for a treat with an array of delicious options available throughout the day. From savory fried catfish and other mouthwatering dishes to cool refreshing beverages and sweet treats like snow cones and cotton candy, there will be something to satisfy every taste and craving.

One of the day’s major highlights is the Frontier Day Parade, starting at 10:00 AM. This year, we are excited to announce that Rocky Bollan will be our parade Grand Marshal! Join us as we honor Rocky and enjoy the colorful floats, classic vehicles, and a display of community spirit that embodies the rich traditions of Plainview. In addition to the parade, be sure to check out the Motorcycle and Car Show hosted by the Free Will Baptist Church in conjunction with Frontier Day.

Proceeds go to the Plainview FWB Youth. These stunning cars and motorcycles will roll through in the parade and then be parked in front of Frontier Town for everyone to admire. It is a perfect chance for car and motorcycle enthusiasts to enjoy these classic beauties up close!

As the parade winds down, stick around for live music starting at 11:00 AM. Local favorite Ron Wayn will be on stage, delivering a mix of country and folk tunes that will add to the festive atmosphere.

We are also hosting a Like, Share, and Comment giveaway on Facebook—your chance to win a Frontier Day T-shirt! And, as an extra bonus: wear your shirt to the event, for your chance to win a $25 gift card!

Giving back to the community is a major part of the fun! Take a shot at the Dunkin’ Booth to help raise money for the Havana Food Pantry, and enter our raffle to win a firepit, with proceeds benefiting First Baptist Church Loaves & Fishes Ministry. Both offer a great way to give back to the community while having a blast.

Old Frontier Town provides a picturesque backdrop for the event, making it the perfect setting for a day of celebration. Bring the family, enjoy the food and entertainment, and connect with fellow community members in a celebration of what makes Plainview special.

For your convenience, porta-potties are available on site. Admission to Frontier Day is free but be sure to bring some cash to support local vendors and indulge in the tasty offerings. Whether you are a resident or are just visiting, Frontier Day is an event not to be missed!

For more details or to inquire about vendor booths, check out the Plainview Community Events Facebook page (@PACEYellCounty.) Booths are still available for retail and business or non-profit vendors. Visit our website at visitplainviewar.com to register for a vendor booth or enter your car, motorcycle, float, horse and wagon, or other in the parade.

Join us for Plainview Frontier Day 2024 and be part of celebrating the traditions that define our community!
