Plainview Gears Up for Frontier Day with Contests, Car Show, and Community Hunts

Get ready, Plainview—Frontier Day is rolling in with more excitement than ever, and this year’s lineup has something for everyone. From little cowboys and cowgirls taking the stage to classic cars gleaming under the October sun, Saturday, October 25th promises a full day of fun, tradition, and community spirit.

One of the most heartwarming traditions returns with the Lil Miss and Lil Mr. Frontier Day Contest, where Plainview’s youngest residents will don their western best and show off their charm. This fan-favorite event always brings big smiles and lots of applause, celebrating the spirit of the frontier through the eyes of the next generation.

This year’s Crafts for a Cause Arts and Crafts Show adds a fun and meaningful twist. Community members will submit homemade crafts to be displayed in a special booth at Frontier Town. Festival-goers then vote for their favorite creation—not with a ballot, but by dropping money into that craft’s jar. At the end of the day, the jar with the most donations will be crowned “Top Dog of Creativity.” All funds raised will benefit a local pet rescue, making this event both creative and compassionate.

Families looking for adventure can grab a Harvest Blessings Scavenger Hunt Trail Map and set off on a journey through Frontier Town. Each map is filled with unique images, and every vendor booth will have one of those images on display with a number beside it. As festival-goers explore the booths, they will record the number that matches each image onto their trail map. Once the map is complete, participants can turn it in for sweet prizes and a chance at the grand prize drawing. It is a fun way to experience every corner of Frontier Day while connecting with vendors along the way.

Adding even more excitement is the return of the Miniature Horse Hide and Seek. In the week leading up to Frontier Day, tiny toy horses will be hidden throughout Yell County, waiting to be discovered. Lucky finders can bring their miniature horse to the festival for a free prize and an entry into a special grand prize drawing. This community-wide hunt was a hit last year, and it is back to keep everyone on the lookout for those sneaky little ponies.

And for those who love chrome, horsepower, and engines that roar, the Cars, Crops & Choppers Car Show hosted by Plainview Free Will Baptist Church is back and bigger than ever. Registration opens at 9 AM with judging at 10 AM sharp. With a $20 entry fee, all makes, models, and years are welcome—classics, muscle cars, hot rods, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Whether it’s polished chrome, powerful growls, or custom rides that turn heads, this showcase of wheels will be one of the day’s main attractions. This is your chance to show off your ride, compete for bragging rights, and be part of one of the most exciting highlights of Frontier Day. Don’t just park it — show it off!

Frontier Day 2025 is shaping up to be a celebration filled with tradition, creativity, and plenty of horsepower. From tiny pageant winners, crafts for a cause, and a Frontier town scavenger hunt to a county-wide hide-and-seek and roaring engines, Plainview is ready to shine.
