It’s almost time, Plainview! Frontier Day weekend is just around the corner, and this year’s two-day celebration promises to be bigger, brighter, and busier than ever! Get ready for a weekend filled with music, food, crafts, contests, and community spirit that captures the heart of small-town life.
Festivities begin Friday night with the Starlight Stampede Glow Fun Run 5K, sponsored by River Valley Runners. The City of Plainview is joining in on the fun with free glow stick giveaways and live music by Joey Richardson to kick off the evening. While you’re there, grab a hot bowl of chili from the Masonic Lodge Chili Fundraiser—it’s the perfect way to fuel up before the race and enjoy the night with neighbors.
Then on Saturday, the action heats up! The day starts with the Frontier Day Parade and rolls right into a full lineup of fun for the whole family. Kids will love hopping aboard the C&L Barrel Train Express for a ride around the festival grounds, while everyone can enjoy the Lil Mr. and Lil Miss Frontier Day Pageant and check out the Car Show, proudly sponsored by the Plainview Free Will Baptist Church.
Be sure to stop by the Welcome Booth when you arrive and pick up your Harvest Blessings Trail Map to start your Frontier Day adventure!! This fun scavenger hunt guides you through the festival —follow clues and visit with vendors as you complete your map. It’s a great way to meet local businesses, interact with vendors, and experience every part of Frontier Day!
When it comes to shopping, our vendor lineup this year is absolutely packed! You’ll see plenty of familiar faces you know and love, along with a bunch of exciting newcomers joining the fun. From handcrafted art, home décor, and jewelry to local jams, baked goods, and unique treasures from near and far—there’s something for everyone to discover at Frontier Day. Whether you’re browsing for gifts, treats, or just exploring, this year’s mix of vendors won’t disappoint!
While you’re exploring, stop by Alt’rd: A Maker’s Market’s Craft Booth, where they’re sponsoring multiple hands-on crafting stations for folks of all ages—perfect for families to create a fun keepsake together! You’ll also want to check out the Tie-Dye Booth, sponsored by Loyd Miller with All Around Real Estate—a colorful experience that’s sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.
And let’s talk about food—because this year’s food lineup is mouthwatering! From your favorite returning food trucks to a few new tasty additions, get ready for a day full of flavor. We’re talking catfish, chicken, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, tornado potatoes, and so much more! Come hungry and plan to eat your way through the festival!
Don’t miss Crafts for a Cause, a special PACE fundraiser supporting a local pet rescue! This fun arts and crafts show lets you help choose the winner—just drop a donation in the jar of your favorite piece. The jar with the most money wins the show, and all proceeds go directly to help local animals in need. It’s creativity, community, and compassion all in one booth!

While you’re there, pick up some raffle tickets for your chance to win some amazing prizes! This year’s raffle features two beautiful handmade quilts and a hog and freezer package, processed any way you want it. Quilt raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5, and hog/freezer raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. Winners will be announced Saturday night during the Hill Street Blues concert, and you do not have to be present to win.
